Hey there my fellow Hillcats!

In case you didn't go outside or look out a window its snowing here in Claremore! Now I personally love snow. It's fun to play in, throw at eachother, and makes a good reason to stay inside and watch a movie or do homework.

Now with all this fun and play can also come some real dangerous situations especially if you are driving.

Before you are driving first thing to do is to make sure your windshield is clear of most if not all snow/ ice. The best way to do this is by starting the car to have the defrost blowing on the windshield on a medium setting, at least to start with, and using an ice scraper. NEVER pour water, espcecially hot water, onto your windshield when it is covered in ice. The rapid heating from the water can cause your windshield to crack!
Now as you are driving make sure to take it slow and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination leaving about 20-30 minutes earlier should give you plenty of time. Look out for ice on the roadways and watch the other cars.
Should you happen to start sliding around do NOT slam on your brakes. This can cause one tire to grab the road better than the others sending you spinning everywhere. You need to let off the gas and slowly peddle the brakes until you regain control. If you start sliding to the side then turn your wheel to the direction you are sliding and peddle your brakes off and on until you turn back the right way.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hope you guys have plenty of good safe fun out there!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">And if you all have anything you want to add or topice to be discussed remember to comment below.

Hey there my fellow Hillcats!

As you all know Valentine's Day is tomorrow! So guys hopefully you already have the dinner reservations and other plans in check for your lady. If not then you better hurry! Well what if he or she lives far away and you can't see eachother in person? Then you can do what me and my girlfriend are probably going to do, skype call! You can light your room that you're skyping in really elegant and pretend to be at a fancy restaraunt or whatever else your mind runs into.

For all of you people that do not have a significant other then no worries I have some great ideas for you too. You could make your own date completely by ourself and you do not have to worry about it going horrifically bad, or trying to impress anyone.

Then if all else fails there is always Mr. Homework. He will never forget about you and always there to keep you company. :) No matter how much you shove him away he always comes back. Haha

Well guys and gals that's it for this week.
Remember if there is anything you want to me to talk about leave a comment below :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17772947217236245107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-89363476711909262902013-02-06T07:57:00.001-08:002013-02-06T07:57:17.955-08:00<span style="color: blue; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: x-large;">Give your brain a rest..

Hey there my fellow Hillcats!

As the semester continues on and homework starts pouring in from all directions, remember to take a break every now and then. Not only does taking a break relieve you from long boring hours of studying it gives your brain a rest from its work.

Some ideas for fun things to do:
1. Find some friends and just hang out or go to an event, anything other than studying.
2. As its getting warmer, go for a walk in the reserve.
3. There are plenty of groups on campus hosting events almost everyday. So find one that you're interested in and explore it.
4. Nothing better than some good ol' games or T.V.

Now this obviously aren't the only things that you can do, rather they are ideas to help you get away from the books for a little while. I'm not saying spend countless hours doing these things when your paper is due the next day, but when you're getting stressed out remember its okay to take a short break every now and then.

EVENT of the week:
This week is Kappa Sigma, fraternity, and Alpha Sigma Alphas', sorrority, rush week. What this means is that both of these organizations are looking for new people that would like to join. They are both holding events every night so if you have ever thought to yourself "Hey I wonder what its like to be in a Frat. or Sorr." then this is the week for you! Find out for yourself who the people in these organizations are and not just believe what you've seen in movies.
I am the SGA Rep. for the Pre-Proffesional Health Club which is also apart of the national Pre-SOMA, Student Osteopathic Medical Association. I'm looking forward to discussing many topics in this blog. Hopefully I can discuss some things that you guys want to talk about and answer some questions that you may have about either of these organizations.

I came from the great metrapolis of Oktaha, Ok where I had a graduating class of 54 students! When I started looking for Colleges/ Universities that I would like to attend the first thing I looked at was the price to attend. Now I know that all the great recruiters and other people looking to get you into their school that you should not look at money but the school itself. In my eyes all that's going to bring you is an unwise investment when you could be saving potentially thousands of dollars! So I applied to many schools and every Scholarship they would offer me. So when I had it narrowed down to a few schools then I had to make my decision on where to go.

I chose RSU because of the smaller campus and I had several friends that go here. With a smaller campus it gave me a good upgrade from my small hometown without being launched into a huge university such as OU or OSU.I believe I made a great choice in choosing RSU. Not only are the students that you can meet everyday very friendly, but the staff and Proffessors are great in helping you out in every way they can!

Well guys and gals I believe this is enough for one day. If you have any questions feel free to ask away!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17772947217236245107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-76565350245230717442009-04-02T09:19:00.000-07:002009-04-10T14:46:35.590-07:00So Much To Do.. The next week was the centennial week and like I said there will be another post up here soon about that. It's weird that its getting so close to the end of the semester. Time is just flying by!! I cant wait for summer to get here! Post again very soon!!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-35012626204422275152009-02-26T07:59:00.000-08:002009-03-05T07:43:54.304-08:00As the semester has had a little bit of a lull in activities I have been busy busy busy with homework. Of course there is the usual hanging out with friends and things that have kept me busy also, but classes seem to not be as much of a breeze as they have been in the past. :(

Lets see... Valentines day was spent with two of my friends Kaleb and Laura. We went to the Wild Fork and had a very nice dinner. It was lots of fun! Then, I believe the next big thing that happened was the BIG GAME... RSU vs. OBU!!! It was awesome! The game was sold out and everyone was whited out.. except me! :( I got there at 6:00 and they were all out of small and medium and youth large shirts, so I didn't get one! oh well.... Then in the girls game my friends boyfriend went out and competed to get $30 at Wings To Go and won by doing the chicken dance! It was hilarious! haha... I tried to upload the video, but it wouldn't let me! Then, the half time of the boys game was the final competition for the half court shot for the scholarship and my friend Matt shot, however he didn't win. I can't remember the name of the guy that won. However, the boys won so it was an amazing night!

We went to the casino on Thursday also, and since it was ladies night I got my name in the bin and won! I didn't get the big prize but I got $10 and a t-shirt! haha... so that was much of my excitement!

Last weekend was a lot of fun, Friday was PLC interviews! It was cool to see who we might get next year and play games with all of them! I was at the fun table in interviews so I got to ask them fun questions like "if you were an animal what would you be??" Our table was cracking up laughing through most of the interviews!

Then, following interviews a group of us headed to Tulsa to go to Winterjam only to find out that by the time we got there it was sold out! It kinda stunk, but I think all of us were so tired it worked out pretty well that we could all go home and go to bed! Then, Sunday was my friend Matt's birthday, so on Saturday a bunch of people decorated his room and I made him an ice cream cake and another cake and surprised him!

Monday and Tuesday night of this week has been RSU's GOT TALENT TRYOUTS from 5-9, which was a little disappointing because we didn't have many people audition, but I still think it will be a great show! So that is mainly what we have been working really hard on in PLC, and also the Centennial Float for the parade on the 25th!

Well I'm bummed that I dont any pictures right now for this post, I'm waiting for my friends to upload them and I've procrastinated as long as I can so hopefully I'll be able to add some in later... Have a good week!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-14169743003671421602009-02-11T07:26:00.000-08:002009-02-11T09:00:48.176-08:00I'm BACK!!

I'm so sorry it has taken me forever to update you on my exciting life. So much has been happening and I have barely had time to think. But no worries I have lots of pictures this time!

So, we will start off with GAME NIGHT! PLC held our first game night and I think it went pretty well all things considered. We ended up having it in the 2nd floor study room at the dorms, which is pretty small, but it worked out just fine and we had lots of treats to eat! lol We played apples to apples and Hoopla!

Lots of fun!! Then, there came the SNOW DAYS!!! No school for two and a half days was wonderful! We played games, such as board games and twister!!

Then, Kaleb was playing so intensely that he held his hand in one spot for too long and his hand got stuck that way!! As pictured above! haha Then, Matt was bored because he wasn't playing and decided to put on Holly's rainboots. He was cute!
After that was win the real fun came, if you call it that. We went sledding. It was so much fun especially that first day when it was all ice and you would slide for forever. But heres one bad thing that happened. Our group decided it would be so much fun to go down the hill on Bluestarr. We had to sleds and Matt and Gunther were on one and Laura and I were on the other. The boys were supposed to go first, but then they chickened out. Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into, Laura and I decide to go so we start flying down the hill probably going a good 15 mph if not more and start getting close to the curb. We push off until it gets to a turn in to a road and we cant push off so we crash so hard into the curb and we both fly into the air (Everyone said it was about 3 ft of air) and my tailbone was injured, injured bad! Laura couldn't walk because her leg was hurt so bad, so the guys decide to carry her, well then they drop her! haha.. About a week later we both recovered but it was not a fun way to spend the snow break! So the next night that everyone went sledding I just took pictures.

Everyone decided it would be really cool to link arms in a straight line and go down all together. We went to Lanaye's house to watch the game and it was a lot of fun! Then Friday I went and saw the movie Fireproof at the First Baptist Church downtown. It was a really good movie, it even made me cry! We have had get togethers almost every night in my dorm so I have become rather exhausted. I have an 8 o'clock class that.. well lets just say I will avoid having another one as much as possible. Last weekend was really cool because a group of my friends have all decided to church hop around Claremore so we visited our first church last Sunday, which was First Baptist downtown. It was really nice and fun to have all of us there.

On Tuesday, me and my friend Holly went to a nursing home called Wood Manor here in Claremore and helped out baking cookies and delivering them to their residence. It was fun, and they were all so appreciative of us being there. Plus we got some cookies out of it all! haha..

I am really excited this semester for PLC. We are really trying to amp things up quite a bit and it hopefully will turn out great. We held our first game night last night and it went pretty well. We had probably around 30 people show up, which I didn't think was too bad. We have some ideas for some more events coming up, I can't wait to carry them out!! I will try to add in some pictures soon my camera died so I am having to bum pictures off of other people.

Classes are going well so far, but I can tell this semester may be a little crazy.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-27585561675537035172009-01-12T08:03:00.001-08:002009-01-23T08:29:36.804-08:00A New Beginning

Well last semester ended well. We also saw the dedication of the clock which was pretty awesome to say that we were a part of that!

Then, a group of us all went ice skating at the BOK center in Tulsa and of course finished the night off with a lil IHOP. HOMECOMING WEEK WAS AMAZING. PLC had an adorable board made by Charity and we won for it! Then all the shopping carts were so cute and very clever! It was really warm and the band was really fun! Then a big group of us hit up Peppers to eat afterwards. The next day we woke up bright and early and hung out with some future Hillcats at Destination RSU.

After Destination RSU we headed to the tailgate. Then we went inside to watch the games. The girls sadly did not win, but the boys won quite well.

Then, it was a party in the boys dorm room, us girls made dinner and we watched the OSU game. It was a lot of fun and we had enough food to last for awhile, or atleast my fruit salad did! haha

Last weekend I got to go to Oklahoma City because my sister got a Silver Medal award for how well she did when she passed the CPA. It was a pretty big deal and we got to tour the capitol, eat at Bourbon Street Cafe, and tour the Memorial. It was really fun and I was glad to spend time with my family. Plus I found out that my cousin will be dancing in the Macy's Day parade on Thanksgiving, which is very exciting I can't wait to see her!

Well work is going well, and I have been doing well in school. I've been pretty stressed out from getting toward the end of the year, so there are finals and essays due and so I'm just trying to get through it all! Thank goodness though that this weekend is Thanksgiving weekend!

I am excited for next semester, I am going in January to Ft.Worth with CRU and then I'm going on a trip to Oklahoma City in February for the Nigh Leadership Academy. I think they will both be great opportunities for me, and I cant wait to go! Well, I am about to head home for the break but I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-72253842429638587932008-11-06T18:58:00.000-08:002008-11-06T19:18:40.290-08:00Can life get anymore hectic?Last weekend was Halloween, it wasn't too exciting for me, I wanted to go to the PIKE party, but we didn't have costumes together in time. So instead that evening I went to my boyfriends brothers house to help with the trick or treating. All the kids were so adorable!!!

Saturday I went to a wedding, then watched the Texas vs. Texas Tech game, which was very exciting especially toward the end of it. Then, I had lots of studying to do. My classes this week haven't been too brutal. My Anatomy and Physiology teacher has had jury duty this week, so I did not have that class Monday or Wednesday. I got sick this week with gastritis, not fun and the hospital called me out of school for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. However, I had two tests on Thursday so I went anyways, but I don't think it was the greatest idea.

This week was also HOMECOMING WEEK!! It started off by a spirit board contest on Monday, where Charity did an amazing job on the PLC board. Then, Tuesday was where each department decorated for a contest and the enrollment office looks so cute! Wednesday was a scavenger hunt, but I was still in Tulsa recovering so I didn't get to participate, then that evening PLC and Honors took a field trip to Stillwater to watch the basketball game, and sadly enough I couldn't make that either because I wasn't back in time. We also sadly did not win! :( Then, today was the shopping cart parade, where different clubs would decorate shopping carts and roll them through the campus. Tomorrow is the bonfire and The Plumbers will be performing also. Then, Saturday we are participating in Destination RSU, then PLC is having an Egg Bash at the tailgate party and there will also be a car bash so I hear. I'm very excited for all the events and also going to the game!

There will be a lot going on and we hope lots of people can come out and have a great time with us!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-78684350109005227162008-10-29T16:32:00.001-07:002008-10-29T16:54:34.848-07:00Busy Busy Busy...

I have had a ton of things going on lately, which is why it has taken me so long to post. Last week I took my test and I did alright on it, I just hope the rest of the semester in my classes stay as smooth as they have been going so far.

Last Thursday was movie night at the boys' dorm room. We watched Strangers and it was soo scary, not to mention it was a true story! Then Friday night PLC had a booth at the Kiddie Carnival, we all got to dress up and see all the cute kids walk around! And yay.. I have pictures!

Then, later that even we went to eat McDonalds, which I hadn't had in FOREVER! Then, we went down the Trail of Terror. It would have been scary, but all of us were singing and yelling the whole time! haha... Then, Laura, Hope, Holly, and I went and terrorized the boys dorm. We mixed all their shoes up and then went and tagged Kaleb and Chad cars! Oh goodness it never gets old...

Saturday morning I woke up at like 7 A.M. for the Tulsa Run. It was freezing and wayy too early, luckily I was only doing the 2K, and we practically ran the whole way! haha.. After that we went to the Riverwalk for the BBQ festival tasting. It was amazing.. all the BBQ you can eat for $10! That evening I came back to Claremore to see David Boren, the President of OU, and hear him speak about the book of his that I read, "A Letter to America," he seemed really nice and brought up some very important points for our nation. Then, I went and saw Frankenstein and was so confused! I guess the only experience with Frankenstien I have had is seeing pictures, not actually knowing the story. It was still a great performance.

Yesterday I learned how to play Ultimate Frisbee... It's so much fun except I kept getting hurt :(

Next week is Homecoming Week... I can't wait!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-41136183194372470782008-10-21T13:55:00.000-07:002008-10-21T14:10:17.726-07:00Getting Back into GearLast week was Fall Break. Breaks are always bittersweet, it's nice to be off but always is worse when you come back. I had quite an eventful break so I had a good time, and didn't think about school once! On Thursday night a big group of us went to Tulsa and stood in like for an hour and a half or so for Nightmare. It was soo scary and it seemed like the people wanted to attack me the most! :( and then we ended the night at IHOP, which is always a great place for late night dinner.

Then, on Friday night I went to the Bishop Kelley vs. Skiatook game, and Kelley smothered Skiatook, it was kinda depressing because the final score was 44-0. I miss going to high school football games, and hopefully I get to go to a Union one before the seasons over!

Saturday was pretty lazy for me, I was toted around a lot running errands and things! haha.. But that evening I went to Oktoberfest with my sister and my boyfriend. We had a good time but only stayed for a couple of hours. Plenty of time to eat a bratwurst and a strawberry newburg.. yummy!! The bus ride was crazy to get there! Our driver almost drove off the road and was very loud! Oh well.. we all had a good time!

Sunday was pretty boring too I guess... went 4 wheeling for a little bit, but then just did some yard work and stuff. Needless to say I was definitely glad to be back here on Monday!

This week has been interesting so far, but in a good way. I started my new job on Monday and it is going great, the ladies I work with are really nice and the work is not difficult at all. Yesterday they sent me and Lindsay to the Mail room to pick up some of the new Spring Schedules for the office and when we got them, I realized I was on the cover. I couldn't believe it! haha.. All my friends are calling me goofy names now, but its pretty cool!

Well I have a big test tomorrow in Physiology, so I'm going to go study, wish me luck!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-42269952344865590732008-10-14T16:42:00.001-07:002008-10-14T16:51:14.904-07:00Finally a Break!!It's been a busy week with PLC, we are trying to get our fundraising going, as well as our community service events, plus we have kiddie carnival, shopping cart parade, homecoming, trail of terror, and our float for the Claremore parade. We are trying to put everything together and it's quite stressful. At least we have gotten some of the planning done, which definitely helps when it comes to not being complete procrastinators! Hopefully we can get some things changed for next year at least!!

Mid terms were this week and last week. I did well on last weeks, but we will see how I did on today's when I get them back! haha... I studied, but I think luck has something to do with it to, whether you studied the right stuff or not! It will definitely be nice to have a couple of extra days off to relax though! Plus, a couple of my classes have been letting us out early this week and one of my labs was cancelled completely. I hope this doesn't mean they are being nice now so they can torture us later! haha..

Lots of events have been happening on campus this week, a blood drive was today, alcohol awareness day was monday, and our constitution day luncheon is tomorrow. PLC gets to go meet Governor Keating and take a picture with him.

Break is this week, so hopefully I will have lots of stories when I get back. And hopefully I can talk Holly into uploading some of our pictures, since I am still without a computer! :(Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-37542149146220136252008-10-06T11:49:00.000-07:002008-10-14T17:07:12.972-07:00Even More Projects and Excitement! :)Last week, was pretty boring for the first part of it, I think the most exciting thing was that my roommate, me, and Monique stayed up til 1 making picture frames and magnets on Tuesday! haha.. Then the fun began... Thursday afternoon myself plus about 12 other PLC members got the chance to go an Oklahoma Leadership Retreat in Tulsa. It was a ton of fun, we were able to listen to quite a few guest speakers and got a chance to meet other leaders from colleges around Oklahoma. The mixer that night was a little lame, everytime the RSU students would start dancing, no one else would join, they just looked at us! haha.. so we went on a downtown adventure. Then, we went for a late night snack to IHOP... oh goodness, the times at IHOP! The following day we went to three workshops, which for the most part were pretty interesting and gave us all some great ideas that we want to implement here on campus! The retreat was very beneficial and we all, I think, had a great time! <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257163546008002674" style="FLOAT: left; I'm applying for a position here on campus in the Campus Learning Department, or something, I will be finding out more about it soon, so hopefully I will get that chance. It would be nice to walk to work and not waste the gas! So I attempted the fair again on Sunday and got a ride pass, but only rode like 3 rides. I guess the day ride pass made Sunday a popular day because all the lines for the rides were outrageously long! Also, the prices for food were absolutely astounding! I couldn't believe it.. a shishkabob with about 6 small pieces of meat on it was $7!! Thats crazy! But it was still a lot of fun!

As far as school goes, I have a little bit of down time as far as tests go! I ended up making good grades on all my tests on the last go around of test taking. I hope I will be able to do that same thing again! Also, I have a big speech tomorrow over energy drinks, so hopefully that goes well! Wish me luck...

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-13520506583214188342008-09-29T11:27:00.000-07:002008-09-29T11:41:30.624-07:00The new start for PLC!Last week, PLC found out some unfortunate news which was that there were a few people who did not think we should be considered an organization within SGA. This was rather shocking to all of the members and we have now began to kick it into high gear. Each of us are coming up with great new ways to have a high student involvement and plan some great events for all the students to enjoy. Some of the ideas are a little wacky, but I hope that we are able to make them happen so that we lead other students by the activities we put on.

I began working in Tulsa last week and that is sadly not going to last long. There is too much of a drive for what they are offering me. My friend is trying to help me get a job on campus, so I hope everything with that works out! I wish money could just appear cause its too much to worry about with school and friends! haha...

Campus wide capture the flag was last week and I wanted to go really bad, but my roommates all left town and I thought the boys backed out until I drove by and saw them playing! What a disappointment! haha... they will just have to remember that revenge can be rather brutle! just kidding..

I went to the Tulsa State fair this weekend. The funnel cakes were amazing, but I didn't ride any rides. I think we are going back this weekend and we will ride some then. We went to the barn and saw all the cows, coming from someone who didn't grow up around farm animals those cows were gigantic!! We also went around to all the booths and saw what everyone was selling. I haven't been to the fair in about 11 years, so it was a lot of fun for me, but I bet next weekend will be better!

This weekend is the Leadership Convention, which I am going to with a couple of the other PLC officers. I am pretty excited about it we are all staying the night in Tulsa and its going to be a blast. Next post I'm sure I will have lots of stories and pictures to share!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-55745593830953423632008-09-22T15:55:00.001-07:002008-09-22T16:07:05.957-07:00Do I have to get a job?It is now over a month into the semester and I still am without a job. I tried out a tanning place, but it wasn't as flexible as I was needing, and I ended up staying up until like 3 in the morning finishing my homework because I got home so late. I went back to my old job and asked them if they needed any help and they took my right in. The only bad thing is that it is all the way in Tulsa. Seeing as how it is not the highest paying job I will see how long I will last having to pay for gas and everything. I really like not having to have one because I can get all my homework done and still have plenty of time to have fun and do the activities on campus. So this week will probably be pretty exhausting.

Last week was pretty tame, the most exciting thing I participated in was FCA on Thursday night. We had hot dogs, had a spirit contest and got all pumped for the soccer game that night. Then, we went to the soccer game and welcomed on the boys onto the field where they won the game 3-0. After the game, Holly, Matt, Kaleb, and I headed over to the casino for RSU night, but none of us won! :( Later on we had a movie night and watched a really weird movie, but I definitely stayed up way to late for having class at 9 the next day!

The weekend went well too, I ventured to Stillwater for my best friends birthday, but since there wasn't a game this weekend it wasn't very exciting! Then, on Saturday I went to Skiatook to the Pioneer Day Parade, where we went to a car show, went 4 wheeling, and then watched Travis Kidd and watched fireworks! I guess I was really worn out because I slept a bunch on Sunday, but I was able to get all my laundry done! haha.. The fair is coming up, I'm getting excited because I haven't been in forever! Lets just hope I don't have to work constantly!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-70992723590823361852008-09-15T13:37:00.000-07:002008-09-15T13:51:39.135-07:00Cramming for time...This past week was pretty calm. Test time has finally come, and I'm not enjoying it at all! I had my psychology test last Thursday. It didn't seem to bad, but I haven't seen my grade yet. I have a huge Anatomy test on Wednesday, so I have been studying like crazy for that. Then, I also have a Nutrition test on Thursday, which I need to begin studying for. Hopefully after this attack of tests I'll be able to relax for a little bit before my next group of tests!

Last week my roommate and I hit the gym for the first time this semester. It was definitely needed after all the pizza we had at the FCA laundry night! The rec center is really nice here, and it wasn't too torturous. Hopefully I'll be able to talk her into going with me again. We also were able to finish all of Season 4 of the Office, so we are ready for the new season to come on September 25!

The weekend went well also, Friday I went to my parents house for a cookout while we watched the Jenks vs. Union game. I graduated from Union, so I was glad to see them do a little better this week! Then, Saturday I got to see OSU win and then went to an OU football party that night and watched OU win. It was a pretty exciting weekend, but I must say I'm a little tired of football at this point! Next weekend I'm going to a parade, so that will be a nice relief from all the football games!

I'm going crazy because I have all this homework and things to do and my computer shut down yesterday. It's amazing how much items are taken for granted until you cannot use them anymore. I really hope it can be fixed without sending it in! Well until next time.. later!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-76647725071025361232008-09-06T16:12:00.000-07:002008-09-15T13:37:10.505-07:00A great start to my college experienceSo far the past two weeks have been pretty exciting. It started out last Wednesday when I was elected for Freshman Representative in President's Leadership Class. Also, now that I am an officer, I get the opportunity to go to a Leadership Convention in Tulsa with some other people from the class. I am really looking forward to it, and hope it will be as much fun as the ones I went to in high school.

Classes haven't been going to badly, atleast not yet. This semester I am enrolled in Speech, Intro to Psychology, Nutrition, PLC, Dosage Calculations, and Anatomy and Physiology. I have yet to have a test, which means here in the next couple weeks I will probably have a ton of them! My goal is to apply to the nursing program in the spring and be admitted next fall, so I am really trying to do well in all of my classes so that I won't have any problems getting in.

Despite the bad weather it has been a pretty fun week. I took advantage of the $1 bowling on Wednesday and had a lot of fun, even though I didn't do so well! There was a lot of RSU students there, and I was surprised that I hadn't heard about it before this week! Then, on Thursday we ventured over to Oolagah High School and watched the Oolagah vs. Claremore football game. The snocones, although were not nearly as good as Josh's Sno Shacks, made the night all the more amazing, and the ride home put the icing on the cake... we'll just say I partially lost my voice that night! haha.. Claremore won, which some of my friends graduated from Oolagah, so it was kind of a bummer, but we still had a good time.

This week it was kind of raining and my advice to everyone is make sure you have a steardy umbrella, mine fell apart the first time I used it! That was not a good day! It's starting to get cool, but hopefully we will still have a little time to spend at the volleyball court and possibly the pool before it gets too cold.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755266937250049660.post-54767533409568911582008-08-28T22:11:00.000-07:002008-08-28T23:52:53.472-07:00PLC Trip to Ft. WorthThe dreaded time came, 4:30 A.M. I did not want to get out of bed, but with the anticipation of what was to come I rolled out of bed. Luckily my roommate had advised me to pack the night before, so all I had to do was get dressed and go. Running late, me and my roommates literally ran to the bus barely making it before it left. After a couple hours of riding on the bus we arrived in Oklahoma City where we then took the Heartland Flyer to Ft. Worth. Now, many of you may think this is a plane as I did at first, but surprisingly we were taking a passenger train down to Texas. It was a really cool experience and much more roomy than the bus! And I don't think any of us will forget the crazy concession lady that had to be told everyone's life story. After we arrived in Ft. Worth, we went straight to Billy Bob's, yes that is the world's largest honky tonk. While we were there we ate lunch and did a little line dancing, which was a lot of fun even for those of us who kept running, or bouncing, into each other.

After our fun at Billy Bob's we headed toward the Stockyards for a tour and were able to see where they used to buy and sell cattle, and we even got to see a cattle drive. Then, we headed over to a building down the street, which was an old meat packing company, but now is XTO Energy. We toured the building and heard the history of how they restored everything to keep the history of Ft. Worth.

We arrived at our hotel only 30 minutes before we had to meet in the lobby for dinner, and that includes the time it took to assign us all rooms. Unfortunately, my room had been mixed up and we accidentally walked in on a man shaving, a very unusual experience! So my roommates and I only had about 10 minutes to dress up for our fancy dinner that night. We met in lobby and followed Lindsey, the manager of regulatory affairs at XTO Energy, and toured another restored building which XTO now operated out of. This building was especially interesting because it used to be a bank, so we were able to see all the vault and old teller stations. Our group was then taken out to dinner to Del Frisco's, a very nice steak restaurant, which we all ate very well that night and had very full bellies. The night was pleasantly ended by a group of us hanging out in the hot tub at the hotel.

The next morning we toured the Kimbell Art Museum, which not only had great exhibits of well known artists, but had a great story behind the actual building. After seeing the Impressionist Exhibit, we hopped on the bus and headed back to our hotel where we had about five hours of free time at Sundance Square, the downtown area by our hotel. Many of the others went to Barnes & Noble or the little gift shops around the area. However, Holly and I needed a couple of items from the local Target so we talked some of our friends to walk down there with us. It was a little farther than we thought and three miles later we arrived at Target to buy our bathing suit and blanket. Lucky for us, on the way back the Ft. Worth bus offered us a free ride to our hotel, and we made it back in time to get ready for a short meeting and dinner. That evening we went to Joe T. Garcia's for dinner, which is a well known Mexican restaurant that only serves fajitas and enchilada's for entrees. The dinner was great and again our bellies were quite plump, but it didn't stop any of us from ending the night in the hot tub yet again.

Our last day of the trip we went to the city next door, Dallas, and visited the Kennedy Assassination Site, which was really interesting. There were a ton of home videos and pictures that described the event. After the tour, I had my own opinions on what happened. I don't think Lee Harvey Oswald was the only one involved. Once we all made it back on the bus, we headed over to Neiman Marcus, where we had lunch in the Zodiac Room. The food was fabulous, and the shopping afterwards was crazy because everything there is so pricey! Following lunch we went to the Dallas Art Museum, which was much different from the Kimbell Art Museum. In the museum was a lot of abstract art, which were difficult to understand unless you heard the stories behind them. The time now came, we had to say goodbye to Texas and head back to RSU. Right past McAlester, OK, we stopped for lunch at Pete's Place. It was so good, everything was family style and almost every type of food was served. Continuing on our journey back, we made it on campus about 9:30 or 10:00 that night. Exhausted from the trip, all my roommates and I crashed as soon as we got home so we would be rested for our first day of class the next day. This trip was a great start for my first year in college!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5
